Work with Us

Who Are We?

We are so glad you asked! We are Brent and Missy, married for 25+ years and together for over 30. Our two sons have entered the workforce, so we are officially empty nesters.

I (Brent) had a nearly 30-year career in the financial industry, as a stock market analyst at several Wall Street firms and as the investor relations lead for a Fortune 500 company. Missy was employed in public accounting and later worked in tax accounting for a large multinational corporation. She has spent the last 20+ years as a stay-at-home mom raising our two children, while also taking on a part-time accounting job.

We both left our professional careers in early 2021 to start Travel Tug of War. Our hard launch of this travel blog in February 2025.

New Travel Bloggers with a Foundation Built for Success

We have visited 48 states and 26+ countries. We are famous (or infamous), among close friends and family, for creating 20-to-30-page itineraries and step-by-step travel plans. I am a skilled professional writer and have been the primary author on tens of thousands of written pages between my tenure as a Wall Street analyst and working in the corporate sector. We encourage you to read just a small sampling of our Itineraries, Travel Guides, Destinations In-Depth, and Family posts. We believe these published works will demonstrate that we have zero intention of being a “me-too” travel blog.

Given that our travel blog remains “new”, we are focused on adding content. We have primarily utilized three social media platforms, but our working through “re-starting” on a fourth. We publish a regular e-mail newsletter that we have issued consistently on a monthly basis since February 2025.

At this stage, we are laying the foundation with a professional, extremely high-quality product. We encourage you to compare our articles with those from other travel bloggers, and are confident that these differences will become clear. We have a small, but loyal, following on social media and through our e-mail. We have spent zero dollars on advertising, and have no plans to do so until we reach ~100 published blog articles.

Why Work with Us?

Ultimately, a blog’s reach and engagement drive the attractiveness for potential partners. At this early stage, we don’t have these metrics to present potential partners. As a result, we are looking for partners who can see our vision, recognize Travel Tug of War’s underlying potential, and appreciate the quality and differentiation inherent within our current offering.

We hope you will recognize and appreciate the opportunity to partner with Travel Tug of War.

How to Work with Us?

Travel Tug of War is focused on providing balanced trip itineraries so that every family member is happy (the successful result to a “tug of war”). We have created the acronym S-C-H-O-L-A-R to represent this focus on travel balance: Spectator, Culture, History, Outdoors, Lodging, Adventure, and Restaurants.

Our blogging platform emphasizes multi-location, statewide, and entire country destinations. This travel approach supports our creation of the following:

  • Comprehensive 7-to-10-day itineraries (~15,000 words, 50+ images, multiple maps, and a summarized hour-by-hour reservations table)
  • Travel guides supporting further idea creation for readers (~3,000 words)
  • 3-to-5 accompanying in-depth posts on specific attractions/sites (~3,000 words per publication).

Our website also features extensive family and extended family sections highlighting our burgeoning interest in genealogy tourism.

We will consider various collaborations with individual partners, but will remain highly selective when identifying the best fit for our brand. When establishing new relationships, we will always adhere to FTC disclosure rules and search engine guidelines.

We have an interest in the following types of partnerships:

  • Press/FAM trips and events
  • Brand ambassadorships
  • Travel-related support, including sponsored stays/experiences
  • Social media takeovers
  • Other collaborative creative partnerships
